I don't have a CVS store, but knowing it's a pharmacy store, they don't just sell SIM cards.
Most pharmacies sell prepaid PNE cards for this purpose. Most likely, they also sell prepaid PNE with prepaid SIM cards (such as prepaid Tmole kits). I think this is how you get a prepaid SIM card.
If you are looking for just one SIM card, many people are selling them cheaply on eBay. It may already be enabled with a phone number with a different area code, but you can always reactivate and change it.
