I agree with Karen L. I had to search the internet a while ago to catch a strong smell in my washer, dryer and clothes / towels. I no longer have my source because I accepted my answer, even though it was not the answer. My clothes don't smell like penicillin after using the dryer (as suggested). The answer also suggests using real perfume. I also tried the disinfectant mouthwash (light gold or plain colored bubbles) according to other suggestions on the internet. Also works well. Her clothes still smelled like mouthwash, but not as much as that faint smell! My washer and dryer are safe even after heavy loads. I think this additional information will help.
