SWAP (Simple Workflow Access Protocol)

An Internet protocol designed to provide Hypertext Transport Protocol (HTTP) functions to access or interact with a common workflow service or workflow-triggered process. SWAP, approved by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), provides a set of standard definitions for the type and structure of messages passed between cooperative workflow systems. SWAP allows one workflow system to start, control, communicate, and manage workflow instances in another workflow system. It also provides a way to integrate workflow systems with other web services.
